LONDON FASHION WEEK LOOK 4

SUIT SMART

Like most trousers, cigarette pants are different for every woman. You have to find that perfect pair. Incidentally, they were always something I had to search for. For me they're either too tight, too loose, too long.. and after a few failed attempts, buying online was out of the question! But when ASOS had a crazy moment with 25% off everything, I found these and couldn't resist trying one last time. It paid off! ASOS have the clever option of choosing the length of the trousers, so I could select a shorter pair to ensure they fitted me. There's a perfect amount of room without feeling like Hareem pants and they fit well enough to stay around my waist. The outfit taps into Saint Laurent's 'le smoking' iconic look, but without the blazer and with a personal twist. This relaxed, stripped back yet smart version can be worn in a casual setting without looking like you're waiting for an imminent meeting. Although admittedly it is not something I would go for as everyday wear, it is definitely a good option for an evening meal or drinks with the girls. The addition of sunglasses was appropriate as this is my final LFW look; everyone hides behind a pair of lenses!

Here lies the end of my fashion week lookbook - more Autumn-Winter looks are on their way!

LONDON FASHION WEEK LOOK 3

CREASING AND DUSTING

The unhappy state of my shorts in some of these images is not through lack of trying or even ironing. A substantial amount of time was spent smoothing every line and crease, blissfully unaware of the events that would unfold (no pun intended). Yet as soon as the shorts were worn, the creases reaped their revenge once more. Happy days! So for any perfection seekers out there, I apologise for the sorry appearance of my once pristine satin look powder blue shorts. I had hoped that they would look like a beautiful almost co-ord-esque style with my fabulous duster coat, however that plan came to an end quite quickly.

However, what does shine in this shoot is the aforementioned duster coat! Not only a bloggers' but a style seeker's classic, there has been a long coat-sized hole in my wardrobe for a while now, I was just holding out for the perfect one. I thought this might have struck gold when I purchased a vintage Topshop coat for £36, but after a very expensive, unprecedented trip to the tailors to bring it down a whole size (I love being so small), I fell in love, although it was not exactly the look I had been hoping for. This sophisticated, sleek piece of outerwear is now something I want to style up as often as possible as its one of those pieces that just make you feel expensive. The colour is a rare find, but obviously a pastel/powder blue was going to be something I was interested in. I am still on the hunt for a looser more casual version, perhaps black and without the shoulder pads, but after all this work I now own a unique piece of clothing which will be styled for many posts in the future. Duster coats are clearly not for the faint hearted, as a coat that originates from the Wild West for Texan rangers, designed to keep out dust. I would hope my blue beauty doesn't even come into contact with dirt. They are rewarding - if you put the effort into what you wear beneath it, you'll really feel the benefits.

Top - Miss Selfridge
Shorts and heels - River Island

When the winter weather decides to kick in I will be able to style this coat again, wearing it for what it was designed for - allowing me to brave the elements whilst still looking fabulous!

LONDON FASHION WEEK LOOK 2

From blushing pink to a sophisticated monochrome, I present my second ensemble in my fashion week lookbook. A little more adventure was necessary, as I was aiming for a fashion week-worthy look after all, hence why this isn't my usual style! My new fluffy heels have been on the top of my list to showcase this week; they've been crying out to be featured since the day I purchased them! All things fluffy is what I'm all over this winter, so I obviously have to get an element of fluff into every item of clothing possible. The skirt is an on trend length and style, combining a flattering mini skirt with a feminine lace midi-length overlay, not only being pretty but also providing a little breeze whilst the weather remains undecided. Another winter staple in my wardrobe is definitely hats and other hair accessories, including knit headbands and earmuffs - although I have previously featured this felt beekeeper it is my favourite find, as the flattering shape makes it a classic piece for any season. This rather large handbag is one of my most used items, being my longstanding old reliable for uni, travelling into London and also as a heavy duty holiday bag. It finally makes an appearance here!

You may notice a massive difference in the quality of my images - today was my first shoot taken by amazing blogger, photographer and friend Serah Alabi, whom I say a colossal thank you to for all my shots! Keep an eye out as she will be taking my photos for the foreseeable future and I couldn't be more excited. Her blog is the beautiful serah-de-fashix.com - definitely check it out for effortless style and photography combined!

BACK AT IT: LONDON FASHION WEEK LOOK 1

After what almost seems like a lifetime break, finally the time has come to get back into the blogging routine! I have had a busy and tiring but incredible 3 weeks, with a combination of returning from South Africa, moving into my new uni house and interning at London Fashion Week taking up the majority of my time. This meant that my blog was temporarily put to one side, which I wasn't happy about but I had to prioritise! I may have been present among the euphoria at fashion week whilst interning at beautiful shows such as Toga and Orla Kiely, but I didn't actually watch any shows myself. I therefore didn't have chance to put together more glamorous looks over the four days. This is why I have decided to dedicate my next few posts to this; showing you what I would have worn had I attended shows each day at Somerset House. I am embracing the pale skin, as I feel more comforted in the fact there were equally pale individuals on the scene at LFW who looked fabulous. Its also a chance to show you some of my purchases from a Oxford Street retail therapy session at the end of my interning week - I went a little crazy...

With winter on its way I know its definitely time I start posting my transitional looks. As I only started this blog in the summer months I haven't yet had chance to show my winter style. Get ready for lots of gorgeous furs, thick knitwear and lots of winter whites, blacks and of course, pink could never be ignored! I also have quite a collection of winter accessories to unleash!
